- geopandas.read_file_info(filename, layer=None)[source]#
Read layer information from a file.
- Parameters:
- filenamestr, path object or file-like object
Either the absolute or relative path to the file or URL to be opened, or any object with a read() method (such as an open file or StringIO)
- layerstr or int, optional
If the file contains multiple layers, the name or number of the layer to be read. If None, the first layer is read.
- Returns:
- dict
A dictionary with layer metadata.
